Choosing the Right Kids Bed
Every bedroom is different, and the best kids bed depends on more than just mattress size. Consider how many children need to sleep in the room, how much floor space you have available and whether the bed also needs to provide storage, study or play space.
Our range has developed around these different needs, with designs that make better use of the space available rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
Two Children Sharing a Room
For two children who regularly share a bedroom, a bunk bed can provide two permanent sleeping spaces while using the floor area of a single bed. Our range includes lower-height designs as well as traditional bunk beds, with different ladder, step and storage configurations.
For younger children or rooms where a conventional bunk is not the preferred arrangement, we also make low-height loft designs with a second bed that pulls out from underneath.
Three Children Sharing a Room
When three children share a bedroom, making good use of both floor space and room height becomes particularly important.
Our Triple Bunk Beds provide three full-size sleeping positions in layouts designed to make better use of the available room. We also offer other bunk configurations that can accommodate three sleepers, including Single-over-Double designs and selected bunk beds with an optional trundle.
An Extra Bed When You Need It
A trundle bed provides an additional sleeping space without requiring another permanent bed in the room. The lower bed stores underneath when it is not required and can be pulled out when needed.
We make dedicated trundle beds as well as selected bunk and loft designs with pull-out sleeping options, giving you different ways to add an extra bed without permanently using more floor space.
Making Better Use of Floor Space
A loft bed can turn the area normally occupied by a bed into useful space for storage, play or study.
Our lower spacesaver lofts combine a lower sleeping height with storage and movable pull-out desks, while our Cubby House Loft Beds create an area underneath for play, reading and relaxing. For older children needing a more substantial study area, our High Loft Beds provide a dedicated workspace underneath.
For bedrooms where storage is just as important as sleeping space, many of our kids beds incorporate cupboards, shelving, drawers or other storage into the design. Loft beds can take this further by turning the area normally occupied by a bed into useful space for storage, play or study.
Choosing Your Kids Bed Size
Many of our kids beds are available in Standard Single or King Single, allowing you to choose a size that suits both the child and the available room.
Standard Single or King Single?
Standard Single is often the best choice where maximising bedroom space is the priority. King Single provides additional width and length and can be a good choice when you want the bed to continue providing comfortable sleeping space as your child grows.
Because many of our beds are made in different configurations, the available mattress sizes can vary by model. Check the individual product page for the exact size combinations available.
Made to Order Around Your Room
One of the biggest differences between our kids beds and mass-produced furniture is that we make them to order in Melbourne.
Many of our designs are available in a range of configurations rather than as a single fixed product. Depending on the bed, you may be able to choose the size, colour combination, left- or right-hand layout, ladder or step configuration, storage and additional sleeping options. The number of options and available styles is shown with each bed in the product listing, making it easier to see which designs offer the most flexibility.
Making each bed to order also gives us greater flexibility when a standard configuration does not quite suit your room. If you have an unusual layout or a particular requirement, contact us to discuss what may be possible.
Colours and Materials
Our kids beds are available in a selection of practical melamine colour combinations, making it easier to coordinate the bed with the rest of the bedroom.
For customers looking for a more natural timber appearance, we can also manufacture many designs using plywood as a special option. Read our Why Choose Plywood Furniture? article to learn more about the differences and the character plywood can bring to children's bedrooms and other furniture.
