Loft Beds

Our loft beds for children and teenagers, includes beds with integrated desks, cleverly designed built in storage cupboards and shelves, which make great space saving kid's bedrooms. Low loft such as mid sleeper cabin beds are as compact alternative to conventional beds, bedroom storage cupboards and study desk. Loft beds are useful for small bedrooms, where you need to maximise the floor space usage.

Types of loft beds

loft beds are an elevated bed which frees up the floor space underneath for another purpose.  Depending on whether there are built in features for the bed underneath or just empty space determines the usage of the loft bed. 

Loft beds with built in storage

Many loft beds have built in cupboards or shelves underneath. Mini or low height lofts will open have cupboards or shelves that are assessed on multiple sides of the bed, as the bed is quite deep storage drawers built under the steps are also a clever way of maximising storage space within these beds. 

Loft beds with a built in desk

Fitting a desk under a loft bed is a common usage of the space. often the desk is built in and integrated with the loft bed structure. But in other designs the desk is a separate unit or may be designed to slide in and out of a recess under the bed. Mid heights or low lofts have slide out desks, which are great if you only have occasional need to use it, but when you need to store it items on the desk top need to be removed before the desk can be stored away. High lofts will have a reasonable high clearance underneath to allow a person to sit under the loft bed and work at the desk.

Loft beds with a relaxing play space

Often people like to keep the floor space clear under the loft bed to use as a play space or a relaxing space t oread a book on a bean bag.  Many designs such as our Cubby house range of lofts combine the freedom of having mostly clear space under the bed for enjoyable play with a minimal, amount of open shelf storage to keep books and toys, organised, neat and tidy under the bed. loft beds with play spaces underneath will be a medium height as they are designed for younger children but will be higher than regular low lofts to keep the space underneath useful.

Loft bed heights and sizes

King single loft beds

Loft beds are often made in both standard single and king single. All our loft beds at fitting furniture are available in either bed frame size. King single beds are both wider and longer than standard singles so are while usually this is an issue with tight bedrooms, however, when it comes to a loft bed because it is elevated you can enjoy the extra space without it necessarily consuming the room floor space.

High loft beds and low loft beds

The choice of a high or loft bed depends on what the need for the space below is, and the age of the child using the bed above. Younger children will prefer the lower beds and make use of the storage under low lofts, and older kids and teenagers choose high lofts, as they will not mind the extra height and will need the use of the workspace underneath.

What ages can use loft beds?

It depends on the maturity of the child; low height lofts can be used by younger children while older children and teenagers should only use higher lofts. Light weight adults will also find the space saving features of a loft bed useful and while our loft beds are designed for kids a lightweight adult can also use them.
