A flexible high loft bed that creates a proper study space when you need it, while leaving the area underneath free to arrange your way.
Raising the sleeping area creates a genuinely useful zone beneath the bed for homework, computers, drawing, reading and school projects. This model can be ordered simply as a high loft bed, or with a matching optional two-drawer desk to create a coordinated workspace.
Unlike a desk built into the bed, the optional desk remains completely separate. You can position it to suit your room now, then rearrange the space as your child's needs change.

The added height is purposeful: it creates useful clearance beneath the bed for a proper seated workspace. As children grow, the space can become somewhere for homework, computers, creative projects and the everyday space needed for work that comes with school.
That is what makes this a High Loft Bed. Cubby House designs are made for play and relaxation underneath; this range is designed around making the space work harder as a study area.
Some families already have a desk they love, prefer different furniture underneath, or simply want to keep the area open. Others want the convenience of a matching desk from the beginning. Both choices are equally suited to this loft bed.
Instead of a desk, some customers have used the space underneath to put another bed at a right angle, half under the high loft.
The optional matching desk is not fixed into the loft bed. Position it along the back beneath the loft, against the bookshelf end, or elsewhere beneath the bed where your room layout allows. The bed does not dictate where the desk has to go.
The desk includes two drawers and is made to match the sleeping size you select. A Standard Single loft receives an appropriately sized desk, while the King Single version is supplied with a longer matching desk. It is matching to the bed, yet remains free to move as your room changes.
The full-size bookshelf is not simply placed beside the loft bed. It is designed into the end structure, with components working together as useful storage, bed structure and access.
Accessible from outside the bed, it gives books and everyday bedroom items a home without needing an additional freestanding bookcase.
Open shelving beneath the loft helps keep the workspace organised. Use it for textbooks, folders, stationery baskets, reference books, computer accessories or everyday bedroom belongings.
It is practical storage in the right place, helping the study area stay useful without adding more furniture to the room.

Because our loft beds are manufactured to order in Melbourne, we can sometimes accommodate special requirements beyond the standard options shown on this page. We have previously made custom High Loft Beds with Easy Climb Steps at either the front or end, as well as Double-size versions.

How This Design Came About
Our earlier loft beds had already helped families use the area underneath for storage, play and a temporary pull-out workspace. Customers increasingly requested a space somewhere that would be practical for everyday homework and study as well.
The High Loft concept takes familiar Fitting Furniture ideas — integrated bookshelf storage, end access and useful under-bed shelving — and raises the sleeping platform specifically to create a proper workspace underneath.
This version deliberately keeps the matching desk separate and optional. It creates the space first, then lets each family decide how to use it.
