Choosing the Right Trundle Bed

A trundle bed provides an additional sleeping space without permanently taking up the floor area of another bed. The second bed stores underneath and can be pulled out when another sleeping position is needed.

Our range includes simple Single and King Single beds with optional trundles, storage-focused designs such as the Benalla and Kialla, a Double bed with a Single trundle, and bunk beds that can be configured with an additional trundle underneath.

Because our beds are made to order, many designs can be configured around the way you want to use the room rather than being limited to one fixed combination.

Single and King Single Trundle Beds

Our Single trundle bed designs are available with a Standard Single or King Single main bed, giving you the choice between keeping the overall dimensions compact or providing a larger sleeping surface.

Our simplest design can be ordered as the main bed on its own, with a pull-out trundle underneath, or with pull-out storage drawers where available. It is a straightforward and flexible choice when you don't need additional furniture built around the bed.

If you also need substantial bedroom storage, the Benalla and Kialla designs combine the sleeping flexibility of a trundle bed with storage built around the main bed.

Double Beds with a Trundle

A trundle isn't limited to Single or King Single beds. Our Double Trundle Bed combines a Double mattress-size main bed with a full-size Standard Single trundle underneath.

This provides the space of a Double bed while keeping an additional Single sleeping position tucked underneath when it isn't required. The trundle can be configured to pull out from either side of the main bed.

There is also an optional storage drawer on the opposite side, making use of the remaining under-bed space while still retaining the Single trundle. A matching bedside table is available, and when ordered together we shorten the opposite-side drawer so it can still open with the bedside table in position.

Bunk Beds with a Trundle

If you need more sleeping positions, some of our Bunk Beds can also be configured with an optional pull-out trundle bed underneath.

Our Storage Bunk Beds combine two permanent sleeping levels with an integrated bookshelf and the option of adding a trundle below. Depending on the model, you can choose Standard Single, King Single or a Single-over-Double bunk configuration.

Adding the optional trundle creates another sleeping position without permanently taking up the floor space of an additional bed, making these designs worth considering when a conventional bed with one trundle doesn't provide enough sleeping capacity.

Trundle Beds with Storage

If you need both an extra sleeping position and additional storage, you don't necessarily have to choose between the two. Several of our trundle beds incorporate storage elsewhere in the design while keeping the pull-out bed underneath.

The Benalla Trundle Bed provides generous open shelving around the bed, while the Kialla Trundle Bed combines its sleeping space with enclosed cupboards and sliding-door storage. Our Double Trundle Bed can also be configured with a storage drawer on the opposite side from the trundle, while our Storage Bunk Beds incorporate bookshelf storage above.

On selected designs, pull-out storage drawers can instead use the space normally occupied by the trundle. This is useful when under-bed storage is more important than an additional sleeping position.

Benalla or Kialla – Open Shelves or Enclosed Storage?

Both the Benalla and Kialla combine a trundle bed with substantial built-in storage, but they approach storage very differently.

Benalla – Wraparound Open Shelving

The Benalla surrounds the main bed with accessible open shelving. The head or foot storage unit includes a long adjustable shelf, while the side unit runs along the length of the bed with multiple shelving spaces and adjustable centre shelves.

It is a good choice when you want books, toys and everyday belongings to remain visible and easy to access without needing separate shelving units around the room.

Kialla – Enclosed Cupboard Storage

The Kialla is designed for customers who prefer storage behind doors. The upper storage section has sliding doors facing the bed, while the lower section incorporates cupboards with doors accessible from both sides.

This provides substantial enclosed storage within the footprint of the bed and keeps belongings hidden away rather than on open display.

Trundle Bed or Storage Drawers?

Some of our designs give you the option of using the under-bed space for either an additional bed or storage.

Choose a trundle bed when having another full-size sleeping position available is the priority. If you don't need the additional bed, storage drawers can make the same under-bed area useful for clothing, bedding, toys or other belongings where that configuration is available.

Your needs may also change over time. On applicable models, you can order the main bed without a trundle initially and add the matching trundle later.

Standard Single, King Single or Double?

Our trundle range provides several main-bed sizes to suit different bedrooms and sleeping arrangements.

Standard Single helps keep the overall dimensions compact, while King Single provides additional width and length. Our Double Trundle Bed provides a larger Double sleeping surface for the main bed while retaining a Standard Single mattress-size trundle underneath.

Our bunk beds with optional trundles provide further size combinations, including Standard Single, King Single and Single-over-Double arrangements. The exact upper, lower and trundle mattress sizes vary between designs, so check the options and specifications on each product page when choosing your configuration.

Made to Order in Melbourne

Our trundle beds are designed and made to order in Melbourne, rather than supplied as fixed, mass-produced combinations.

Depending on the design, you can choose options including Standard Single, King Single or Double sizing, colour combinations, left- or right-hand configurations, trundles, storage drawers and different built-in storage arrangements. The Options and Styles counts shown with each product provide a quick indication of the choices available.
