Why Choose a Low Height Bunk Bed?

A low height bunk bed provides two full-size sleeping spaces while keeping the upper sleeping position closer to the floor than a conventional full-height bunk.

Our range includes three conventional low bunk beds as well as two flexible Low Height Loft Beds that can be ordered with an optional pull-out lower bed. This gives families different ways to create lower-height sleeping arrangements for two children, depending on the room and how they want to use the available space.

Different Ways to Create Lower-Height Sleeping for Two

Not every bedroom needs the same type of bunk. Some families want two permanent stacked beds, while others prefer the flexibility of a lower bed that can be moved in and out as required.

Conventional Low Bunk Beds

Our three conventional low bunk beds provide two permanent stacked sleeping positions while keeping the overall height lower than a traditional full-height bunk.

The most compact design uses a front ladder to minimise the overall footprint. Another combines access to the upper bed with an integrated bookshelf, while our Easy Climb Steps model provides wider individual steps with storage drawers underneath.

This gives you a choice between maximum compactness, integrated shelving or easier step access with additional drawer storage.

Low Height Lofts with an Optional Pull-Out Lower Bed

Our two Low Height Loft Beds offer a different approach. Each can be ordered as a very low loft bed on its own or with an optional full-size pull-out lower bed to create sleeping space for two children.

When included, the lower bed pulls out from the end at a right angle to the upper bed. It runs on casters, so it can be moved further into the room for sleeping or pushed further underneath when more floor space is wanted.

Choose between a compact built-in ladder or Easy Climb Steps with storage drawers. This flexible arrangement is particularly useful if you like the idea of a lower-height loft but also want the option of adding a second regular sleeping position.

Which Low Height Design Is Right for Your Room?

If keeping the footprint as compact as possible is the priority, a conventional low bunk with a front ladder makes efficient use of both floor space and room height.

If storage is important, the integrated bookshelf and Easy Climb Steps designs provide additional functionality within the bed itself.

The Low Height Loft designs offer something different. Without the optional lower bed, they provide an unusually low loft arrangement with usable space underneath. Add the pull-out lower bed and the same design becomes a flexible sleeping solution for two children, with the lower bed able to move in and out as required.

Standard Single or King Single?

Our low height range offers Standard Single and King Single mattress options, although the exact combinations vary between designs.

Standard Single helps keep the overall dimensions more compact, while King Single provides additional width and length where the bedroom allows. Some of our Low Height Loft designs also allow different size combinations between the upper and optional lower bed.

Check the options shown on each product page for the mattress-size combinations available with that particular design.

Low Height or Full Height Bunk Bed?

The main difference is not necessarily the mattress size, but how high the sleeping positions are arranged within the room.

A low height bunk keeps the upper sleeping position closer to the floor and creates a lower overall profile. A traditional full-height bunk makes greater use of vertical space and can provide different storage, sleeping and configuration possibilities.

Made to Order in Melbourne

Our low height bunk and loft beds are designed and made to order in Melbourne, rather than supplied as fixed, mass-produced configurations.

Depending on the design, you can choose options including Standard Single or King Single sizing, colour combinations, left- or right-hand arrangements, access style, storage and whether to include the optional lower bed. The Options and Styles counts shown with each product provide a quick indication of the choices available for each design.

Making our beds to order also gives us greater flexibility when a standard configuration does not quite suit your bedroom. If you have an unusual room layout or a particular requirement, contact us to discuss what may be possible.
